چکیده

In this paper we introduce a new type of attack, called nonlinear invariant attack. As application examples, we present new attacks that are able to distinguish the full versions of the (tweakable) block ciphers Scream, iScream and Midori64 in a weak-key setting. Those attacks require only a handful of plaintext-ciphertext pairs and have minimal computational costs. Moreover, the nonlinear invariant attack on the underlying (tweakable) block cipher can be extended to a ciphertext-only attack in well-known modes of operation such as CBC or CTR. The plaintext of the authenticated encryption schemes SCREAM and iSCREAM can be practically recovered only from the ciphertexts in the nonce-respecting setting. This is the first result breaking a security claim of SCREAM. Moreover, the plaintext in Midori64 with wellknown modes of operation can practically be recovered. All of our attacks are experimentally verified.

Invariant Subspace Attack Against Full Midori64

In this paper, we present an invariant subspace attack against block cipher Midori64 which has recently been proposed by Banik et al. at Asiacrypt 2015 to achieve low energy consumption. We show that when each nibble of the key has the value 0 or 1 and each nibble of the plaintext has the value 8 or 9, each nibble of the ciphertext also has the value 8 or 9 with probability one regardless of th...

Invariant Subspace Attack Against Midori64

We present an invariant subspace attack on the block cipher Midori64, proposed at Asiacrypt 2015. Our analysis shows that Midori64 has a class of 232 weak keys. Under any such key, the cipher can be distinguished with only a single chosen query, and the key can be recovered in 216 time with two chosen queries. As both the distinguisher and the key recovery have very low complexities, we confirm...

Cryptanalysis of Reduced-Round Midori64 Block Cipher

Midori is a hardware-oriented lightweight block cipher designed by Banik et al. in ASIACRYPT 2015. It has two versions according to the state sizes, i.e. Midori64 and Midori128. In this paper, we explore the security of Midori64 against truncated differential and related-key differential attacks. By studying the compact representation of Midori64, we get the branching distribution properties of...

Impossible Differential Cryptanalysis of Reduced-Round Midori64 Block Cipher (Extended Version)

Impossible differential attack is a well-known mean to examine robustness of block ciphers. Using impossible differ- ential cryptanalysis, we analyze security of a family of lightweight block ciphers, named Midori, that are designed considering low energy consumption. Midori state size can be either 64 bits for Midori64 or 128 bits for Midori128; however, both vers...

Extension of Cube Attack with Probabilistic Equations and its Application on Cryptanalysis of KATAN Cipher

Cube Attack is a successful case of Algebraic Attack. Cube Attack consists of two phases, linear equation extraction and solving the extracted equation system. Due to the high complexity of equation extraction phase in finding linear equations, we can extract nonlinear ones that could be approximated to linear equations with high probability. The probabilistic equations could be considered as l...
